If Greece wants the Elgin marbles back why do they not offer something in return? The marbles in the British museum are of course first class objects and if Greece wants them back they should be offering objects of equal standard and not second class relics.
The whiny Greek officials seem a little undignified, why do they not offer the British a temple of which Greece has many in return for the marbles? But no it seems that the Greek government wants something for nothing. I repeat once again these objects belong not only to Greece's heritage but also Great Britain's heritage.

Well said. Why *should* we hand them over to these people, just because they want us to?
At the moment the "campaign" costs Greece nothing, and may one day get them something for nothing. It should be made to cost them something.
